Healthgrades celebrates North Shore Medical Center, a Steward Family Hospital, as one of the Leading Hospitals in Early COVID Care North Shore Medical Center excelled in their response to COVID-19

Miami, FL - North Shore Medical Center, a Steward Family Hospital, was among 24 stand-out hospitals across the country that provided exceptional care while treating the highest volumes of coronavirus patients, according to a company that surveys and analysis health data.

Healthgrades analyzed inpatient data (combined data from North Shore Medical Center and sister hospital, Florida Medical Center, a Campus of North Shore) from CMS for almost every hospital in the country with the exception of military and Veterans Administration hospitals during the first three quarters of 2020.  North Shore Medical Center was recognized for providing stellar COVID care at the start of the pandemic.

“Serving patients right here in the community is our highest priority. It is an honor to be recognized by Healthgrades for the incredible care provided by our team at the beginning of the COVID pandemic”, said Matthew K. Garner, President of North Shore Medical Center.  “Our teams held strong in their commitment to providing high quality care despite the uncertain and challenging situation presented by the pandemic. We could not be prouder of their effort and this recognition.”

The leaders at North Shore Medical Center were quick to activate corporate and hospital incident command systems, created special task forces and developed an aggressive internal communications plan to disseminate information to employees and medical staff.  One of the most challenging aspects early on was to keep the flow of critical supplies at levels to support and protect the safety of patients and the front line clinicians providing care.
